Micelles act like magnets for dirt and excess oil, surrounding and trapping makeup and impurities, and allowing them to be rinsed off with water. However, standard micellar water doesn't typically provide a deep enough cleanse on its own, and the leave-on aspect can feel sticky or leave behind pollutants and dirt to sit on the skin.
